Fundraising can feel complex when you are first entering the field or taking on new responsibility for raising money within an organization, whether you are paid or volunteering. This workshop is designed to meet participants where they are and build confidence in the core concepts, language, and practices that shape effective fundraising.
Whether you are exploring fundraising as a career, beginning to raise money for a project or organization, or supporting a fundraising team and wanting a clearer understanding of the work, this session provides a practical and accessible introduction to the world of fundraising.
Fundraising is a shared responsibility within organizations. Participants will be encouraged to see where their own strengths and interests can contribute to fundraising efforts in ways that feel authentic, comfortable, and aligned with their values—regardless of role or experience level.
Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of:
- the charitable landscape in Canada and what motivates donors to give
- the factors that influence an organization’s ability to raise money
- how donors move through the donor cycle from identification through to stewardship
