Charitable gifts in wills are becoming increasingly popular in Canada and around the world. In 2018, the CRA reported that only 3% of Canadians included a charitable bequest in their will. By 2023, that number had grown to approximately 8%, and many organizations now receive a significant portion of their revenue through charitable gifts in wills.
Imagine if 10%, 20%, or even 50% of your organization’s annual revenue came from gifts in wills. What would that mean for your mission and the communities you serve?
In this workshop, legacy fundraising specialist Ligia Peña will guide you through the infrastructure, systems, and strategies needed to build a successful gifts in wills program. Storytelling maven Jen Love will show you how to cultivate meaningful relationships through conversations and stories that inspire lasting generosity. Whether you’re launching a new legacy program or strengthening an existing one, you’ll learn how to create an engaging legacy donor journey that benefits your organization and delight your donors.
Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of:
- Research-backed approaches for the best way to speak to donors about gifts in wills
- The essential building blocks of a successful legacy giving program, from planning to implementation.
- Using storytelling to develop compelling marketing and stewardship that inspires legacy giving.
